There are plenty of options out there when it comes to renting cars, so it's always interesting to see another option step up to provide this service. The arrival of another one leads to plenty of speculation about just what differentiates this new service from the host of others similar to it already out there. To that end, Verizon is bringing out the Verizon Auto Share app, a service that offers much the same as other, similar services, but with some key distinctions.
Perhaps the biggest such distinction is that, even with this app, Verizon is not specifically diversifying into car rental services. Rather, it is looking to serve more as a front-facing application option, working with currently-operating car rental services in a bid to connect drivers and vehicles using a system of managed certificates. Verizon's professional services team also gets involved to serve as consultants in establishing and operating the system in question.
